As you would expect from a major tourist destination such as Gran Canaria, there are a huge selection of excursions catering to tourists in the resorts. Many of these can be booked with your Rep, Hotel Reception or through a Travel Agency in the Resort and will often include a pick-up from, or close to, your Accommodation.
Marine Excursions
Most Marine Excursions are based in either of Puerto Rico’s two Marinas or in Puerto Mogan. Available trips include Deep Sea Fishing, Sailing, Glass-bottomed Boats and even a Submarine, with a bit of luck a visitor may even get to see Dolphins and/or Whales during the excursion.
Safaris
Jeep Safaris are a popular and fun way to explore the less accessible parts of the island and are available from the main resorts.
Camel Safaris are on offer in the Maspalomas dunes, where you can pretend to be Lawrence of Arabia, and near Fataga, which is located a few kilometres north of Playa del Ingles.
Quad Safaris are available from Playa del Ingles (Driving License Required).
From the Air
Helicopter Tours are available, with pick-up from the major resorts, from Las Palmas Airport.
Coach Tours
Several day-trip Coach Tours of the neighbouring Island, Tenerife, are available from the local Travel Agencies with options to visit Spain’s highest Mountain, Teide, or to see the spectacular Killer Whale Show at Loro Parque.
A multitude of Coach Tours of Gran Canaria itself are available from the Travel Agencies in the resorts, some of which take in a visit to one of the Island’s Theme Parks. You may also encounter some cheaper Coach Tours, where you will need to listen to a short presentation – usually trying to sell membership of a Holiday Club.
